5 Ways to Celebrate Mom this Mother’s Day

Moms are amazing. They work tirelessly to make a house a home. They are helping to build self-confidence and a sense of belonging in their children. Also, it is common knowledge that they provide the best hugs in the world (scientifically proven, of course). Mom works hard all day, every day. They rarely take a break or time for themselves, so Mother’s Day is such an important day. Mother’s Day gives you and your children a chance to look after mom for a bit. Give her the space to rest and to feel genuinely appreciated. Here are a few ideas about how you can celebrate Mom this year.

1. Give her flowers

Moms love flowers, especially when she’s not expecting them, and you remember her favorite kind. Perhaps she loves Lilies, or maybe Orchids, or perhaps bright daisies. Please don’t leave this last minute; instead, call-in advance your local florist and secure her favourite flowers for her special day.

2. Cook for Mom (And clean up after)

A homecooked meal is always a great way to show love and appreciation to someone. Make Mom breakfast in bed or a delicious dinner. Remember, it’s not a gift if you’re making the unique person work. Make time to clean up after dinner. Give your children tasks to help out to feel like they’re contributing. While you’re cleaning, let Mom relax.

3. Give Mom a virtual talent show!

Perhaps you can’t see mom in person this year. That’s okay; make the day memorable with a virtual call and spend time talking with her. Or perhaps the kids want to put on a special show for her via a Zoom call. A virtual talent show is a fun way to bond together.

4. Watch a movie with Mom!

Watching a movie is always a fun thing to do. This Mother’s Day, let mom pick out the film for the evening. This is a great way to teach kids to be respectful of other people’s choices and see that even when they don’t get their way, they can still have fun. Have the kids snuggle close to Mom and enjoy the show together.

5. Make your own card.

The best gifts are handmade ones. Have your little ones draw a card for their mom this year. Help them write out a special message to Mom, which she will love and treasure for years to come.

Mother’s Day is a time to reflect on how special moms are and how valuable they are. Taking the time to show this love through various acts will remind the mom in your life that you see them, you hear them, and you love them endlessly. How will you celebrate the Mom's in your life?
