Get the Most from This Guide

This guide is designed to be used two ways: proactively — before your child reaches the next stage, so you know what's coming — and reactively — when you notice something new and want to understand what it means.

Each age stage page covers all 12 development areas under three pillars. Rather than reading everything at once, focus on the areas most relevant to your child right now. Use the toy recommendations to support what your child is actively working on.

Most importantly: use this as a conversation-starter with your child's doctor, not a substitute for it. Every child develops at their own pace, and the milestones here represent typical ranges, not deadlines.

Start with Month 1

The developmental milestones in this guide are intended for educational reference only. They represent general ranges based on widely accepted early childhood development research. Every child develops at their own pace — earlier or later than the milestones described here is often completely typical. If you have concerns about your child's development at any stage, please speak with your child's paediatrician or a qualified early childhood development specialist.
